Why on earth should you spend money to work with a design company on your logo? Isn't it more economical to try to create it yourself? What's the advantage?
If you are the only one in your target area that carries your service or product and consumers are almost "forced" to go to your business due to lack of options, then there may be no advantage for you. But for the rest of us in the world, we have competition. How are we set apart? Many will immediately tell you that they have extraordinary customer service or follow up. And the most likely do. That's great. But how do you get customers to pick you over the other guys when they don't already know how awesome your team is? Let's face it, we are designed to judge by first impressions. I don't argue that it's right, but it's the way it is. Let's see an example. You need to buy some water sports equipment in your area. You do your search on Google and see that there are two businesses in town that carry such equipment. The first company you see has a logo that looks like this:
The other company's logo looks like this:
If the only thing I have to base my decision on is their logo, who am I going to choose? I have no idea that the first company may have terrible service or that they don't back their products. I also may not know that the second company has been in business for 30 years and have several loyal customers. First impressions are everything!
Word of mouth is great, but wouldn't new business be great too? Think about your brand and how well you are represented by your logo. Isn't it worth the investment?
